Shopping American Apparel

xxxxxxxCHERYLxxxxxxxxxxx

Cheryl Cole!!! had to mention the newly purchased album 3 words by the legend that is cheryl cole!!! bought for me by my lovely boyfriend.
Have to admit shes doing pretty well for herself and I just cant help loving her! It's not so much her music, that I learned to like after strangely obsessing over her new looks, makeup clothes etc. It's more the way she seems to be just a normal girl whos kinder become a star in front of our eyes since her entry in popstars the rivals got her a place in Girls Aloud.
Her first single fight for this love, which has just gone to number one...... yey!!! has the coolest video, between some key outfit pieces, cheryl has managed to create a sort of arty sketch book series of images. The kind of art and design which I Love to do in my own journals. Anyway yes we like cheryl we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adding a bit of me every where I go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So with out a few favourites from my famous card collection my uni room wouldn't have felt right so I put up a temporary home from home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coco avant Chanel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing!!!!! Amazing!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
The film's in french, but my french isn't great and I completely forgot it was even in french and just loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The film paints coco in such a unique beautuful light, that she is completely inspiring. It really does her justice, showing how much of a change in Fashion and social ideas about beauty and design she was really making.

The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell

This Summer laying on a sunbed in sunny Greece
I read a book that (like many summer reads) I really couldnt put down. When the book says it analyses the 'Tipping point' it really does, pehaps goes over it in more depth than needed, but you cant fault the how clearly the message gets through.
The book really got me analysing everything myself, it was one of those that you kinder keep boring everyone else with at dinner, trying to explain, in a not so easy way to people who arn't really so interested, how trends start, spread and end.
Although it discussed points that I suppose I have subconciously always been aware of, Malcolm creates scenerios that really make you consider how much the choices we make are influenced b others. The most interesting point I now have forced myself to accept is how much of an impact just one person 'the right' person's actions can have in the right situation, but also how subtle or small things can make a big difference.
Defenately something to consider when starting your own epidemics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer 09 Dubai

Two weeks in boiling hot Dubai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the most sureal places I have been, like lots of cities theres extreme contrast between poverty and luxury. However this is something a little more than that, to say theres amazing architectue is an understatement, especially when you know that only a century ago there was little of anything that half resembled the extreme version of Western culture or the sky scrapers that tower over the old Dubai town. Now they are actually running out of coast line to build these huge towers and are grasping the worlds attention with the tallest hotel, artificial Islands, the largest shopping malls I have ever seen and going from walking in the baking dessert to freezing cold in their ski dubai artificial snow thingy was the weirdest experince ever.
I had a fantastic time, but I definetely came away with the feeling that I craved a bit more of what i suppose I think of as reality. I realised that such a purpose built place seemed to begin to lack in what I suppose is authenticity. It made me really consider how true it was that we would supposedly end up in a completely virtual man made world!!! If it is the case I think it's very sad, but I actually really believe that a lot of other people can enjoy Dubai like me, but also need that sense of history and love a certain amount of traditional culture in there every day lives. making me a believer in the sooo called 'New realist' trend thing.
I genuinly think that the more virtual reality and technology is present in a persons life, the more they will turn to other things e.g organic food, county homes etc. to feel a sense of reality. The futeristic side of Dubai is an amazing experience and it was interesting to see an entirely different culture. I can't truely describe what it's like it's something you really have to expience.
