Two weeks in boiling hot Dubai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the most sureal places I have been, like lots of cities theres extreme contrast between poverty and luxury. However this is something a little more than that, to say theres amazing architectue is an understatement, especially when you know that only a century ago there was little of anything that half resembled the extreme version of Western culture or the sky scrapers that tower over the old Dubai town. Now they are actually running out of coast line to build these huge towers and are grasping the worlds attention with the tallest hotel, artificial Islands, the largest shopping malls I have ever seen and going from walking in the baking dessert to freezing cold in their ski dubai artificial snow thingy was the weirdest experince ever.
I had a fantastic time, but I definetely came away with the feeling that I craved a bit more of what i suppose I think of as reality. I realised that such a purpose built place seemed to begin to lack in what I suppose is authenticity. It made me really consider how true it was that we would supposedly end up in a completely virtual man made world!!! If it is the case I think it's very sad, but I actually really believe that a lot of other people can enjoy Dubai like me, but also need that sense of history and love a certain amount of traditional culture in there every day lives. making me a believer in the sooo called 'New realist' trend thing.
I genuinly think that the more virtual reality and technology is present in a persons life, the more they will turn to other things e.g organic food, county homes etc. to feel a sense of reality. The futeristic side of Dubai is an amazing experience and it was interesting to see an entirely different culture. I can't truely describe what it's like it's something you really have to expience.
